Baghdad Approves 25 Projects so far this year

The chairman of the Baghdad Investment Commission (BIC), Shaker Al Zamli [Shakir al-Zamil, Shaker Shabib] (pictured), has told Iraq’s Arabic language daily Al Sabah that Baghdad governorate has awarded licences for 25 projects in housing, tourism, industry, health, trade and farming so far this year. One of the projects involves the construction of 130,000 houses. Emirates 24|7 reports that a total 317 investment licences worth nearly $14.5 billion have been awarded by Baghdad since 2009, including cover 65 tourism projects worth approximately $1 billion, 37 industrial projects worth around $2 billion, 103 commercial projects, 14 in the health sector, and nine in farming.
